Serenity review

"I am a leaf on the wind"

Not much left to say. Whatch the series, love the movie
This is why Mr Whedon is in the place where he is, amongst fans and critics.

Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills review

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 7 May 2014 03:33 (A review of Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills)

Man, this documentary weeps and screams for humanity. From the horrible, cruel, bizarre crimes that start it all, to the overlooked, segregated children that are accused and (in their own way) tortured just because of who they are, passing through the testimonies of the sometimes-perverse sometimes-vicious parents of the victims and the nonesense of a system that never ceases to fail, this is the disection of a society rotten and lost to its own madness.

One Fine Spring Day review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 30 January 2014 06:56 (A review of One Fine Spring Day)

The construction and deconstruction of love (true love), which is built trough the silences of these two characters that met each other because of sound (they work for a radio station). It is in the lapses between their dialogues, in the things they leave unsaid, that their beautiful and sometimes destructive relationship appears and dissolves as if out of nowhere.

A movie best seen with the heart, than with the eyes. A true gem of romantic cinema.

A Serbian Film review

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 31 August 2013 02:20 (A review of A Serbian Film)

How did they convinced Bon Jovi to do this shit?

Up to about half the movie, were a specific scene takes place, it seemed like it was going somewhere, like Mr Spasojevic actually had something to say. But the message got completely lost in the middle of grotesque absurdity that the movie becomes. The final scene, nevertheless, it's quite brillant(in accordance with the rest of the film).

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo review

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 6 June 2013 11:08 (A review of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo)

Well, em, hmm....that was pretty, very, really so fucked up. A lot. From the beggining until the end.

But even with the clearly enormous budget, the gigantic deviation from the original plot, and all the exagerated(and still cool) action sequences, it somehow manages to keep the old evangelion spirit alive. With new characters, old characters in new costumes, old charactes in new bodies, old charactes in even gayer relationships, this new movie was able to mantain the essence of the original series and fill it with hundreas of new elements that give it a fresh and renewed appearance. Half way trough it i thought i would end up hating it and now i really can't wait to see the 4th and final installment of this saga.

Believe it, Anno still has it.

MUTILATION

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 4 January 2013 07:56 (A review of Irreversible)

is all this movie is about.
mutilation of time(starting with the end of the night and going backwards), mutilation of space(with chaotic camera movements that leave you really dizzy) mutilation of the characters(going down to the deepest/darkest places of human nature), mutilation of the storyline, mutilation of sound, mutilation of...bodies.
"time destroys all things", just like this movie destroys every one of its elemnts, to give a very strong, unmerciful tale of revenge and the "value of life".

Seven Psychopaths review

Posted : 11 years, 4 months ago on 15 December 2012 03:53 (A review of Seven Psychopaths)

"But I think that we all like to dream, not just the fags"

Original, unpredictable, brutal, and deeply human. The new film by Martin McDonagh has more characters, more plot twists, more violence and more bizarre situations than his first, and it works incredibly. From the start (and what a great opening scene, with a brief appearance of Michael Pitt)you get a taste of the tone that the movie will have: nobody will be forgiven. It has everything you can imagine: serial killers, ridiculous mafia thugs, a love triangle, a man in searh of vengeance, a man in search of redemption, a man in search of lost woman, a man in search of ideas, a western hero, and more.

Dancer in the Dark review

Posted : 11 years, 8 months ago on 23 August 2012 09:21 (A review of Dancer in the Dark)

few things have been able to make me cry. never thought bjork would be one of them.
from the very start you know things won't end up right. at all. by the minute 15 i wanted to stop watching it. it was extremely painfull but, also, extremely beautiful. as life itself.
everything is so believable, so real it's scary. even the "bad guys". you can't help but feel sorry for them, almost as much as for the "good guys", almost as much as for the world itself.
the ending scene perfectly sums it all up, in every possible sense.
